The new passport with 41 advanced features will complete the immigration process in minutes at airports in 140 International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-compliant countries. It looks like a passport booklet. Only the booklet will have a radio frequency identification chip on one page and a small foldable antenna at the end.
The chip will contain our biometric details and everything, which is already in the booklet. This scheme called Passport Service Program 2.0 (PSP) will be launched now. Don’t crowd the centers for chipped passports. Therefore, the plan will be implemented in phases. For this, Passport Centers are being upgraded technically.
The whole system will catch up
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, a modern biometric system will be installed at the airport for e-passport. In this, the facial image stored in the passport and the live image during immigration will be matched in seconds.
If someone has come in disguise, the system will catch him immediately. Sometimes the old photo and live image cannot be combined in the current passport.
Continued testing of passports from foreign chip readers
The information and chip information recorded in the passport booklet is entered with the ICAO base. Tests of Indian e-passport with chip reader are going on in various countries. There is no problem in reading the chip, the digital signature will be found immediately. The chip data will appear clearly in front of the computer. Such tests are almost complete.
How to get a new passport?
Even after the launch of PSP 2.0, the passports that will be created will be chip-based. If the old booklet is empty, you can apply for a new one by submitting the old passport at the designated center. You will get a new e-passport even after depositing the old passport.

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has 193 member countries. The organization has started the work of implementing one type of passport in all countries. So that there is no trouble in immigration. Indian passports are being prepared for these standards.
