Indian citizens trapped in Libya returned home

The government has rescued 12 Indians who were sent to work in Libya with the dream of a job in Dubai. All have been brought safely to India. The National Minority Commission did the job of rescuing them.

These people have returned to their homeland and told their stories. Most of the people returning from Libya are Sikhs from Punjab. They said that they were made to work in Libya without pay. They were also starved to death.

His job was lost in the lockdown during Corona. The agents promised these 12 people good jobs in Dubai. However, when these people reached Dubai, they were told that there is no place for them.

One of the victims said that we were neither given proper food nor paid for our work. Among the 12 people rescued from Libya, apart from Punjab, one person is from Bihar and one is from Himachal Pradesh.

The National Manpower Commission will issue an advisory across the country to alert people against false job promises. The chairman of the commission, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, has also asked the Punjab government to take proper steps to avoid agents who make false promises of providing jobs to the youth.

He said that the African country Tunisia was also contacted to release these 12 people. They were brought back to India in two batches in February and March.
