Yes, the DAC (Defence Acquisition Council) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh approved this purchase. According to the information, these procured weapons will also include 60 Made in India utility marine helicopters and 200 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for the Navy.

Along with this, 307 howitzers will be given to the army. At the same time, long range stand-off weapons will be specially purchased for the Airforce. The special thing will be that these weapons will be attached to Sukhoi-30 fighter jets. Along with this, advanced light helicopters are also being purchased for the Indian Coast Guards. It will be specially made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Why is this proposal necessary?

Yes, the Modi government will now further equip and strengthen the country’s army with the necessary military armaments. Now weapons worth 70, 584 crores will be purchased for the army. This decision is also important because for the last three years, tension with China continues even today on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Actually, the Defense Acquisition Council had proposed the deal under AoN (Acceptance) of Necessity.

In such a situation, this money will be released by the Central Government under this, it is a special and very special program. Its purpose is to include the equipment made in India in the weapon. At the same time, a total of Rs 2,71,538 crore has been approved for the financial year 2022-23. 98.9% of this will be spent on buying goods made in India only.

Pakistan-Bangladesh buying arms from China

At the same time, during the last five years, i.e. from 2018 to 2022, Pakistan imported 14% more weapons than in 2013-17, and Pakistan has imported more than three-fourths of its requirement from China.
