Just 4 days after the World Cup final, many pundits and Aussie cricketer Marnus Labuschagne might be complaining about the India-Australia series, but the fans are not complaining about it. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav scored a quick 80 runs, while Ishan Kishan also scored a quick 58 runs. In the end, the team won with Rinku Singh’s explosive innings of only 22 runs.

Batting first, Australia made a formidable score of 208 runs. Team India quickly lost 2 wickets after which Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan put on a partnership of 112 runs. Soon after Ishaan’s dismissal, Tilak Verma also left. Then Rinku Singh entered at the end of the 15th over. India needed 55 runs from 31 balls. From here Rinku took the innings forward with Surya and the victory was almost assured.

Rinku became the finisher of Team India
The turning point in the match came in the 18th over, when Surya was dismissed for 80 runs. However, Team India needed only 15 runs in 14 balls and Rinku was playing with 12 runs in 7 balls. Akshar Patel took 1 run in the fourth after losing 3 balls of the 19th over. Now 12 runs were required off 8 balls. Rinku completed the required 7 runs with a four off 6 balls and 1 off the last two balls.

Then Rinku Singh hit a boundary on the first ball of the 20th over and victory looked certain. The drama started from the third ball. First Akshar Patel and then Ravi Bishnoi were out. 2 runs were needed in 2 balls. However, despite Bishnoi being run out, Rinku was on strike. Rinku went for 2 runs off the fifth ball but could only score 1 run as Arshdeep was run out at the other end.
Now 1 run was needed off one ball and Rinku hit the ball to Shaun Abbott for a six to give the team a win. However, Rinku could not score 6 runs as Abbott’s ball was a no ball and India won. Although Rinku didn’t score 6 runs but by scoring 22 runs off just 14 balls and ending the match amidst falling wickets, Rinku showed that he can play the role of finisher for Team India not only in IPL but also in international cricket. . Apparently, Rinku presents an option for Team India which is looking for a finisher after MS Dhoni.
