The government is going to start a monitoring system (tracking system) this week. Through this system, people across the country will be able to block or trace their missing or stolen mobile phones. A senior government official gave this information.
The Technology Development Institute Center for Development of Technology (CIDAT) is piloting the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system in some telecom circles including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and the North-East region. An official of the Department of Telecommunications said that now this system can be started at the pan-India level.
It will be launched on May 17 across the country
The officer said, “C. E. I. R. The system will be introduced pan-India on May 17.โ When contacted, CEDAT Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Planning Board Rajkumar Upadhyay did not confirm the date but said that the technology is ready to be rolled out on a pan-India basis.

People will be able to track the stolen mobile
Upadhyay said, โThe system is ready and now it will be deployed across India this quarter. This will enable people to block and track their lost mobile phones.โ CIDAT has added new features to detect the use of cloned mobile phones on all telecom networks. The government has made it mandatory to disclose the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI-15 digit number) before selling mobile devices in India.
Mobile network will have I. M. E. I. List of numbers
Approved by Mobile Network. M. E. I. There will be a list of numbers, through which illegal mobile phone entry into their network will be detected. Telecom Operators &c. E. I. R. I. of equipment near the system. M. E. I. There will be information about the number and the mobile number associated with it. This information was used in some states. E. I. R. It will be used to trace the lost or stolen mobile phone.
