Honda to Launch Electric Versions of Its 3 Motorbikes

Japanese automobile company Honda has introduced electric versions of three of its motorbikes. These bikes are Honda Cub, Dax, and Zoomer. Their electric versions will be called Cub e, Dax e and Zoomer e. The company has specially made these e-bikes for the Chinese market.

The Cub e gets drum brakes while the Dax and Zoomer get rear disc brakes. The company released the original Cub in 1958 and is one of the best-selling motorized vehicles in the world. They have sold more than 10 crore units. The Cub e gets 17-inch wheels, round headlights and a 960 Wh removable battery pack. Its motor is 400 W and the range is 65 km.

The Dax e is similar to its combustion engined version. It has a high-rise handlebars design. It offers a range of 80 kms thanks to its 1.1 kWh battery. Its motor is of 400 W. This e-bike can reach a top speed of 25 kilometers per hour. The company’s Zoomer e has a range of 900 kilometers in full charge. However, information about its battery size has not been given. All three e-bikes have chain-drive systems and pedals.

Honda plans to launch its first electric scooter in India next year. The company told that it will be launched by March next year. The sales of electric scooters are increasing rapidly and due to this Honda Preparations are on to launch some models in this segment. The company’s Managing Director, Atsushi Ogata had told that Honda will create charging infrastructure to help plan its electric vehicles in the country. He had said, “We are planning to launch the first electric scooter in March next year. It is being developed on a new platform and will be made according to the needs of the Indian market.” The company’s first electric scooter will have a fixed battery, while the second model will be launched with replaceable battery technology.
