The New Zealand cricket team will return home after skipping the tour of Pakistan. The Kiwi team has decided to cancel the tour due to security concerns. The ODI series between the two teams was scheduled to start in Rawalpindi on Friday.
But just minutes before the start of the match, New Zealand has made this big decision. Pakistan and Kiwis were scheduled to play three ODIs in Rawalpindi and five T20I matches in Lahore. But now arrangements are being made for the Kiwi players to return home. The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a statement on the whole matter. “Today the New Zealand Cricket Board informed us that they have been given a security alert and have decided to postpone the series unilaterally,” he tweeted.

The statement further said, “The PCB and the Government of Pakistan had made extensive security arrangements. The security officials along with the Kiwi team are satisfied with the security arrangements made by the Pakistan government. The PCB is ready to continue the scheduled matches. However, cricket fans in Pakistan and around the world will be disappointed with the recent postponement of the series. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chief executive David White said it was not possible to continue the tour given the advice he was receiving. “I think it will be a blow to the PCB, which has been a great host, but the safety of the players is paramount and we believe it is the only responsible option,” he added.
