The high-speed 5G telecom services launched last year have reached 238 cities in the country. The government gave this information in Parliament on Wednesday. Compared to 4G, 5G has very low latency, which will improve the user experience in various sectors. Low latency means processing high volumes of data messages with minimal delay.

Telecom companies started 5G services from October last year. In August last year, the central government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom companies asking them to prepare for the launch of 5G services. 5G spectrum to Telecom Department auction Bids worth about Rs 1.50 lakh crore were received. Big telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Adani group, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea participated in this auction.

These services will enhance remote data monitoring in sectors such as mining, telemedicine, warehousing and manufacturing. Two big companies in the telecom sector, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Has set a target of converting 150 million mobile phone users to 5G by March next year. Both these companies are increasing their 5G coverage. The tariff for this high-speed service may also be increased. Executives and analysts associated with the telecom industry say that the next financial year will bring a big change for telecom companies. Along with increasing the scope of their 5G service, these companies will also focus on improving their network.

These companies can invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the next financial year. Over the past three years, some companies have exited the debt-laden sector. Late last year Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman said, “This year has been exciting because of 5G. This is a big step forward. We are looking forward to the rapid expansion of 5G next year.” He said that the government will continue to take measures to reduce the cost of operations of telecom operators. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have jointly added around 2.5 million mobile subscribers in November last year.
