Hero Motocorp Electric 2-Wheeler Plan: Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two-wheeler company, is now rapidly working on making electric vehicles. The company is currently focused on expanding Vida EVs to more cities across India. The company is planning to rollout in several cities in the next few months. Vida electric scooters are currently available in Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur.
India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp plans to expand its electric two-wheeler range in the next one and a half to two years. A senior company official gave this information. The company intends to cater to the demands of its customers across various segments.
The company has started selling its Vida brand of electric scooters in Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur. The company intends to expand its existing range in the next financial year before introducing new products.
Hero MotoCorp’s Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU) head Swadesh Srivastava said in an analyst call, we have launched our product in three cities where customers have shown a lot of interest in them. We intend to go to many more cities in the next financial year.
Hero MotoCorp launched the Vida V1 electric scooter in October last year. It was introduced in two versions Pro and Plus. The company produces electric scooters at its plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. The company is challenging Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather Energy, Hero Electric and Ola Electric in this market.
Srivastava said that the company has been able to establish this new brand in the market in the current financial year. In the next financial year, we will enter a wider market. The electric two-wheeler market is growing rapidly in the country. According to the Federation of Vehicle Dealers Associations (FADA), electric two-wheeler sales in the country reached 6,28,671 units last year. In 2021, this figure was 1,55,422 units.
