Bureau Report: The Yatra of Hemkunt Sahib has been stopped due to bad weather. Travel has been affected due to heavy rain and snowfall. The administration has appealed to the pilgrims to stay at a safe place. The police will update the pilgrims in the evening as to when the yatra will resume. Currently, the journey has been stopped for one day. Hemkunt Sahib is at an altitude of 15,210 feet. With the change in weather, it snows here.

72 hours alert from the weather department

The administration has told that the Sangat has not been sent from Khagrian to Hemkunt. The Meteorological Department has issued a 72-hour alert. The Hemkunt Gurdwara Management Committee has made complete arrangements for the pilgrims at Gobind Ghat so that they do not face any inconvenience. The administration said that as soon as there is any good news from the weather department, the passengers will be sent for sightseeing.

Kewar was open on May 20

The pilgrimage to Hemkunt Sahib started from May 20, on this occasion the Chief Minister and Governor of Uttarakhand were also present. An advisory was also issued for pilgrims traveling. In this, the administration has advised sick persons, pilgrims above 60 years of age and children not to come on the yatra for the time being. Although the gates of Hemkunt Sahib were open on May 20, the first batch was dispatched from Rishikesh on May 17. In the same month, the army has cut the snow and prepared the roads.
