The government has reduced the disinvestment target for the current financial year from Rs 65,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore. An official of the Finance Ministry gave this information on Wednesday. In the capital receipts budget, disinvestment proceeds are kept under miscellaneous receipts. According to the budget document for the financial year 2023-24, the revised estimate of miscellaneous capital receipts in the current financial year is Rs 60,000 crore. Of this Rs 60,000 crore, Rs 50,000 crore came from disinvestment and Rs 10,000 crore from asset monetisation, the official said. In the next financial year, miscellaneous capital receipts are estimated at Rs 61,000 crore, including Rs 51,000 crore from disinvestment.
According to the website of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), the government has so far earned over Rs 31,100 crore by selling minority stake in CPSEs in the current financial year, against a target of Rs 65,000 crore in the full-year budget. Apart from IDBI Bank, the government wants to privatize companies like Shipping Corporation of India, NMDC Steel Limited, BEML, HLL Lifecare, Container Corporation of India and Vizag Steel in the next financial year.
