Bureau Report: Another toll plaza is going to be locked in Punjab. Bagha Purana Constituency MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will close the PD Agarwal Toll Plaza near Chand Purana on Moga Kotakpura Road on July 5.
According to MLA Sukhanand, this toll plaza was earlier supposed to be closed on 21 July 2023, but now it will be closed on 5 July only, because the company’s money has already been completed. The MLA said that the Chief Minister himself will reach here on July 5 at 10 am to close the toll. He said that due to the toll plaza, people used to have a lot of trouble, they had to pay toll along with the road tax. There was a long jam every day at Chand Purana toll plaza on Moga-Kotkapura road, people had to queue up despite paying toll.
10th toll will be closed
The Hon’ble government has closed 9 toll plazas so far. It has Kiratpur Sahib – Nangal-Una 1, Ludhiana-Sangrur, Hoshiarpur-Tanda 1, Balachore-Dasuha, High Level Makhu Bridge 1 and Patiala-Samana-Pataran 1.
According to the National Highway Authority data, there are 835 toll plazas in the country as of 30 November 2022. According to Public Works Department of Punjab, there are currently three types of toll plazas on different roads. Among them are Public Private Partnership Model, Samb Savanha Model and National Highway Authority’s Toll Plaza. 12 toll plazas under PPA model, 2 under maintenance, 7 under National Highway Authority are currently functioning in the state.
