Germany’s Deutschlandticket Price Will Remain €49 Throughout the Whole 2024

The German authorities have confirmed that the price of the Deutschlandticket will remain unchanged throughout this whole year.

Announcing the news, the Minister of Transport in North Rhine-Westphalia, Oliver Krischer, said that the Deutschland ticket will continue to cost only €49 per month and expressed his belief that more people will choose to purchase the ticket, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

A good day for all current and hopefully many more future users of the local public transport: The Conference of Transport Ministers unanimously decided today to keep the price for the Deutschlandticket at 49 euros per month in 2024.

The €49 public transport ticket in Germany was launched in May of last yearand since then, the ticket has been very popular not only among Germans but also among travellers staying in the country due to its affordability.

Now that the price of the ticket will be the same until the end of this year, Krischer said he hopes for the ticket to be purchased more widely. He further suggested that with a higher number of people purchasing the ticket, the revenue will also see a rise.

We hope that even more people than before will use the ticket and thus permanently increase revenue.

Launched in an attempt to lessen the burden on those taking public transport amid the increasing prices, Germany’s €49 ticket can be used on all buses and trains that operate in short and medium distances.

The Deutschlandticket is valid nationwide and enables Germany-wide journeys in public transport and regional rail transport.

The €49 ticket comes as a monthly subscription, and it is renewed automatically every month. However, the subscription can be cancelled at any time, making the ticket very convenient for foreign travellers too.

The ticket can be used only by the person who has purchased it, and children under six can travel for free without having to pay for the ticket.

As for transferability, the German authorities stress that the ticket can not be passed from one person to another.

Germany’s €49 ticket was very popular last summer. At least ten million people used the ticket in July and August 2023 alone.

As for this year, the authorities have said that they expect to see an even higher number of people purchasing the €49 ticket to go from one place to another in Germany.
