of Abohar The news of a farmer committing suicide by consuming poison has been received. He was under mental stress due to the damaged crop due to heavy rain and hailstorm in the past few days. The police have kept the body of the deceased in the mortuary of the government hospital of Abohar.

According to the information, the deceased has been identified as Gurmeet Singh son of Buta Singh, aged about 55 years. The deceased was a father of two children. Kulbir Singh, brother of the deceased, said that he had 14 acres of land. In recent days, due to heavy rains, his whole crop got damaged.

The administration also conducted a girdavari of damaged crops in the village, but till date not even a single rupee has been given as compensation. Because of this, his brother was troubled for the last few days. Due to distress, he ended his life by swallowing a poisonous substance.

When the condition worsened, the family members admitted him to the government hospital in Malot. From here he was referred to Bathinda but died on the way. In the morning, the police kept the body of the deceased in the mortuary of the government hospital.
