Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the fake Schedule Caste certificate of Harpal Singh son of Ajit Singh Ludhiana, who is working as a doctor, has been rejected by the state level scrutiny committee constituted at the Punjab government level.

A complaint was filed with the authority and minority that Harpal Singh son of Ajit Singh of Ludhiana has produced a Scheduled Caste certificate.
The minister further said that Harpal Singh belongs to Ramgarhia caste, while he has produced a certificate of Ramdasia Scheduled Caste. Based on this certificate he took admission in MBBS at Government Medical College, Amritsar in the year 1985-86 and is now working as a Private Doctor (Anesthesia) at Ludhiana.
He said that while considering the report of the vigilance cell, the state level scrutiny committee has confirmed that Harpal Singh’s Scheduled Caste certificate is fake and decided to cancel it.
The Cabinet Minister said that the department has written to the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana asking to cancel and confiscate the Scheduled Caste Certificate dated 05.08.1982 of Harpal Singh.
