The central government may increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for more than one crore employees by four percent from 38 percent to 42 percent. Dearness Allowance for employees and pensioners is calculated based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) released every month by the Labor Bureau. Labor is the core of the Labor Bureau.

All India Railwaymen’s Federation General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that the CPI-IW for December 2022 was released on January 31, 2023. The increase in dearness allowance has been 4.23 percent. But the government does not take decimals in DA. In such a case, DA may increase by four percent. It can be increased from 38 percent to 42 percent.
