Patna. Preparation for general elections has started in 31 municipal areas of Bihar. There is a possibility of voting in all these municipalities in May. Ward wise voter list will be prepared by May 3. The State Election Commission has ordered all the District Magistrates to prepare the voter list of the Municipalities. Along with this, the program for preparation of voter list has also been sent.
Preparation for holding general elections in 31 municipalities
Out of the 31 municipalities in which preparations are being made to hold general elections by the commission, there are 24 municipalities where elections are being held in the third phase. Along with this, there are seven such municipalities whose tenure is ending in June 2023. Along with this, the commission has to conduct the election of 17 ward councilors including Chief Councilor of Narkatiaganj Council of West Champaran district and Deputy Chief Councilor of Tajpur City Council of Samastipur district.

Where the Commission is busy preparing for the general elections, Maner Municipal Council of Patna district, Dumraon Municipal Council of Buxar district, Nagar Panchayat Itadhi, Bikramganj Municipal Council of Rohtas district (term June 2023), Municipal Council Daudnagar of Aurangabad district (term June 2023), Nagar Parishad Mahanar of Vaishali district (term June 2023), Nalanda Nagar Parishad Rajgir and Nagar Parishad Islampur, Nawada district Nagar Parishad Hisua, Gopalganj district Nagar Panchayat Hathua, Muzaffarpur district Nagar Parishad Kanti and Motipur Nagar Parishad, Nagar Panchayat Kesariya of East Champaran district (tenure April 2023), and Nagar Parishad Dhaka (tenure June 2023), Nagar Panchayat Machhargaon (Yogapatti) of West Champaran district, Nagar Parishad Shivhar of Shivhar district, Nagar Panchayat Sursand of Sitamarhi district (tenure June 2023), Nagar Parishad Jale of Darbhanga district, Nagar Panchayat Ghanshyampur, Nagar Panchayat Biraul and Nagar Panchayat Kamtaul Ahiyari, Nagar Nigam Madhubani and Nagar Parishad Jhanjharpur of Madhubani district, Nagar Nigam Saharsa of Saharsa district, Nagar Panchayat Poakhali of Kishanganj district, Munger district Municipal Council of Haveli Kharagpur, Nagar Panchayat Sangrampur and Nagar Panchayat Asarganj, Nagar Parishad Barhiya of Lakhisarai district, Nagar Parishad Jhajha of Jamui district and Nagar Parishad Banka of Banka district (term June 2023) are included.
Where the general election was not held due to the death of the candidates
After the death of the candidates in the two phases of the municipal general elections, elections were not conducted even there the preparations for the elections have started.
