Domestic products will get priority in Bihar, price preference will be given in purchase

Patna. Bihar Industries Minister Sameer Kumar Mahaseth said that in an effort to promote domestic products, the Bihar government has made some improvements in its purchase policy. According to the new provision, all departments, institutions and bodies of the state government will give priority to goods manufactured by local industrial units. Products manufactured by large and medium scale industries will be given 2% price preference compared to outside the state and 7% price preference to the products of small scale industries. The Industries Minister was presenting the government’s side on the department’s budget in the Vidhansabha on Wednesday.

Industry department’s budget of 1643 crores passed

Sameer Mahaseth said that all the departments of the state government will have to follow this policy from the next financial year. This will give strength to domestic manufacturers and suppliers, in one way where employment opportunities will be created and on the other hand, income will also increase. Although Mahaseth said, no relaxation will be given in terms of quality and prescribed parameters. Amidst the walkout of the opposition, the House unanimously passed the budget of 1643 crore for the Industries Department, 570 crore for the Minority Department and 1873 crore for the Backward and Most Backward Classes Department.

About five hundred new entrepreneurs in every district

Industries Minister Sameer Mahaseth said that under the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme, more than five hundred entrepreneurs have been formed in every district of the state. Under this scheme, till now an amount of 1450 has been distributed to about 30 beneficiaries. In the current financial year 2022-23, 6432 beneficiaries have been selected. He said that investment climate is being created in the state. By March 10, 2023, stage-1 clearance has been given to the investment proposal of 8558 crores. He said that the government is helping the startups of the state to become unicorns. Arrangements have been made for co-working space, research and development, common software and hardware for startups.

Future plans of the department for the year 2023-24

  • Help of livelihood will be taken for promotion of silk. For this, the responsibility of purchase of machine tools and operation of cocoon bank will be given to Jeevika.

  • Approval of 16.50 crores for the construction of Khadi Mall on the land of Bihar State Khadi Board in Purnia and Muzaffarpur.

  • Scheme to encourage startups of Bihar to make unicorns. For this, 104 seats are being developed for 64 startups in Mauryalok Complex of Patna and modern workstations with more than 200 seats are being developed in Financial Corporation building located on Fraser Road.

  • Malvari reeling unit will be established in Purnia Dhamdaha.

  • Plan to operate two Tasar Cocoon Banks in Banka district.
