Bill Gates on Digital India and 5G: Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has said that India has the ‘best’ digital network and the use of smartphones is very high with ‘very good’ connectivity. He also added that India will be the cheapest 5G market. He said this at a session on ‘Building Resilient and Inclusive Economies – The Promise of Digital Public Infrastructure’ under India’s G20 Presidency.

The Microsoft co-founder praised India’s competitive private market, reliable and low-cost connectivity and said it would be the cheapest 5G market. He said that India has a great digital network and the percentage of people using smartphones is very high. On this occasion, Telecom and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav termed 2023 as a historic year, and said that digital technology has now matured.

He said that artificial intelligence, 5G and quantum computing are set to become mainstream technology. The minister said that India has created a unique framework for digital economy, which is focused on transforming the lives of people. (with language input)
