Fazilka: A woman living in Dasmesh Nagar of Jalalabad in Fazilka district of Punjab has died. The woman died after giving birth to the baby girl. Her parents have accused her in-laws of mentally and physically harassing her for dowry. The police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the heirs of the deceased and started the investigation.

Giving information, Ramandeep Singh, a resident of Dasmesh Nagri, said that his sister Sarabjit Kaur was married about one and a half years ago at Billimar village of Guruharshay constituency with full rituals. Gold jewelery and a Swift car were also given in the woman’s wealth. He blamed his sister’s in-laws and said that they started harassing Sarabjit to bring dowry.

According to Ramandeep, the police also resigned several times. On the other hand, when the in-laws came to know that the girl was carrying a child, she was harassed even more. Due to which she fell ill, she was admitted to DMC Ludhiana, where she died after giving birth to a baby girl. The limit was reached when her brother-in-law and another relative absconded with the newborn girl.

Ramandeep has demanded from the police that the in-laws of the dowry greedy sister-in-law should be severely punished so that no other married woman becomes a victim of such in-laws.
On the other hand, the in-laws of the deceased have completely denied all the allegations. On speaking to Satnam Singh, the deceased’s son-in-law regarding this matter, he has described all the allegations leveled by Sarabjit’s parents as baseless.

He said that he is treating Sarabjit at DMC Ludhiana. Meanwhile, 6 to 7 lakh rupees have been spent on their treatment. He said that his entire house has been destroyed. He is also undergoing treatment for a new born baby girl. The allegation of dowry harassment is completely wrong. Sarabjit died due to complications during pregnancy. In-laws never harassed her.
