He said that out of the total Rs 99.33 crore earmarked for floods during the current financial year, where Rs 79.33 crore is being spent on flood protection works, an additional amount of Rs 20 crore has been kept separately to deal with any untoward situation during the flood season. has gone Similarly, the Department of International Border Protection is working for the protection of BOPs along the Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers from the funds of the state.

He instructed the officials that the funds should be used properly at the ground level in a transparent manner and strict action will be taken against those who are negligent in this matter. For water control at Ropar Head Works, motorization of gates of Sirhand canal flowing from Sutlej river has been done at a cost of Rs.7.94 crore which will reduce the manual work done by the departmental staff.

In an informal interaction with reporters at Ropar Head Works, the Water Resources Minister said that flood protection works will be done in Ropar district at a cost of Rs 2.29 crore. Flood protection works are being done in the areas adjacent to IIT Ropar so that there are no problems in the event of floods again. Similarly, flood prevention works are being done in the villages of Palsari, Jindwali and Asrapur villages of the district. From Nangal to Ropar, various Various drains and chows are being cleaned. Similarly, it is proposed to restore the capacity of Charan Ganga Chow, which has religious and historical importance, and to construct a footpath for the movement of religious pilgrims. It has been completely unusable since last year due to dirt and littering in the chow.

Meet Hare further said that due to the visionary thinking of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, canal water has reached many areas of the state after 40 years. Efforts are being made by the state government to save ground water on a large scale and for this purpose canals are being constructed. And gates on rivers are being automated. The Water Resources Minister further said that the state government will install automatic gates at various places on the canals in the near future, where the water will be stopped so that if necessary, water will be available for irrigating the fields in the respective areas in the shortest possible time. He said that with this technology, if a canal or a canal is damaged in an area, then the damage to crops can be reduced to a large extent. There is full hope that the underground water will rise due to the opening of canals. Because wherever rivers and canals pass through the state, the water level is much higher than in other areas.
