Announcement of SKM
The United Kisan Morcha has announced to hold protests across the country in favor of the wrestlers. He said that the sportsmen have a democratic right to protest against the bad deeds of BJP leader Brij Bhushan Saran Singh but it is being suppressed. SKM is with the players against this and there will be a massive demonstration across the country on 1st June 2023, effigies of Brij Bhushan Saran Singh will be burnt at district and tehsil levels. Apart from this, SKM has said that they invite other trade unions, youth, students and intellectuals to join this movement. SKM demanded that the FIR filed against the wrestlers be dismissed immediately, otherwise they will hold a meeting on June 5 and prepare a new plan.
SKM said that the manner in which they have been treated during the performance of the wrestlers on May 28, they strongly oppose. The organization has also described the FIR registered against the players as shameful.
The United Kisan Morcha said that the way the Modi government has ignored the allegations of physical abuse of women wrestlers sitting on dharna and taken action against them exposes the government’s anti-women agenda. Referring to the Rakesh Vaishnav case of the Supreme Court, the front said that protesting peacefully is the democratic right of citizens.
