Giving a Rakhi gift to women in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 5714 Anganwadi workers for recruitment in the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department of Punjab.
Addressing a state-level event organized at the Guru Nanak Dev University campus here, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Punjab government is committed to the welfare of every section of the society. He said that the Punjab government has given jobs to more than 35,000 youth to harness the boundless energy of the youth of the state in a constructive direction. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the recruitment process has been conducted in a transparent manner and jobs have been given to the youth purely on the basis of merit.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is ensuring the welfare of all employees and workers for the all-round development of the state. He said that the record number of jobs given to the youth are making them partners in the socio-economic development of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the role of Anganwadi workers is important as they play an important role in shaping the future of children at an early age and in their overall development.
The Chief Minister assured the gathering that the state government would take more important initiatives for the welfare of the Anganwadi workers in the coming days, which would ensure that they do not face any kind of hardship while performing the services smoothly.
Talking to the Anganwadi workers on the occasion of Rakhi festival, he said that it is a matter of pride that now girls are surpassing boys in every field and parents feel proud to raise their daughters. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that girls have proved their ability in every field of life and we all should inspire girls to realize their dreams for the betterment of the society.
The Chief Minister regretted that earlier girls were called ‘girls-sparrows’ but now with their hard work, determination and perseverance the girls have proved that they are actually ‘lionesses’. He said that it is the duty of the Punjab government to open new avenues of education and employment for girls and give them more rights. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he firmly believes that if girls are given a chance, they can write a new example of success in any field of life.
Warning of strict action against the government employees who are planning to go on pen-cutting strike in support of their corrupt colleagues, the Chief Minister said that such irresponsible behavior of the employees will not be tolerated at any cost and the public due to the strikes of the government employees. Harassment will not be tolerated.
He said that his government is always ready to resolve the legitimate demands of the employees but they will not tolerate blackmailing in support of those people who have been arrested red-handed while robbing people. . Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has given instructions to implement the Compulsory Services Act so that strict action can be taken against these employees if they go on leave.
The Chief Minister in an emotional tone said that his mother loved to stay in her native village in Sangrur and it has been more than 40 days since he met his mother. He further said that this will not stand in the way of serving Punjab diligently as the blessings of all the elderly mothers of Punjab are with him.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that whenever his mother visits the villages and sees elders meeting and touching their feet, she feels proud that her son is working tirelessly for the welfare of the state and Punjab. He is doing his best to restore the lost glory.
Condemning the rampant unemployment and corruption during the tenure of the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that our government has adopted a policy of not dealing with corruption at all. He asserted that he has brought a positive change in the politics of the state by empowering the sons and daughters of the common man. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people who confined themselves in palaces during their rule have been pushed into political oblivion by the people and now a pro-people government is serving the people with a missionary spirit.
On this occasion, an Anganwadi worker also tied a rakhi to the Chief Minister on the stage.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, Harbhajan Singh ETO and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal were also present.
