Senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal and former Deputy Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal has resigned from the primary membership of Akali Dal. He has sent a copy of his resignation to the party president.
It is to be noted that Charanjit Singh Atwal 2 times M. P. and has been a three-time MLA. Apart from this, he has been Speaker twice and Deputy Speaker once. Let us also mention here that Charanjit Singh Atwal’s son Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal has stood as a BJP candidate from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.

He left Akali Dal and joined BJP a few days ago. Discussions were also going on whether Charanjit Singh Atwal would reach Jalandhar for his son’s campaign or not as he had not resigned from the Akali Dal.
