Chandrayaan-3’s lander has created history by stepping on the South Pole of the Moon. It completed the 25 km journey from the final lunar orbit in 20 minutes. The lander was slowly lowered.
The initial rough landing at 5.30 am was very successful. After this, the lander made a vertical landing at 5.44 am. Then its distance from the moon was 3 km.
Finally, the lander took its first step on the moon at 6.04 am. India thus became the first country in the world to land on the South Pole of the Moon.
It became the fourth country to land a vehicle on any part of the Moon. Before this only USA, Soviet Union and China have achieved this success.
Now everyone is waiting for Pragyan rover to come out from Vikram Lander. It will come out after the dust settles. It will take approximately 1 hour 50 minutes. After this, Vikram and Pragyan will make a picture of each other and send it to earth.

Before India, Russia was going to land Luna-25 on the South Pole of the Moon. The landing was scheduled for August 21, but it veered off course during the final orbit change and crashed on the lunar surface.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 3.35 am on July 14. It took 41 days to land on the lunar surface. The total distance of the moon from the earth is 3 lakh 84 thousand km.
What happens after landing?
Vikram will activate and communicate after the dust settles.
The ramp will then open and the Pragyan rover will descend from the ramp onto the lunar surface.
These wheels will leave an imprint of the Ashoka Pillar and the ISRO logo on the lunar surface.
The Vikram lander will take a photo of Pragyan and Vikram’s Pragyan. They will send this photo to Earth.
