TRAI on Call Drops: The problem related to network is not new in India and due to this the problem of call drop also remains constant. On an average, every user has to face the problem of call drop twice a day. Due to repeated call drops, there is often a problem and the important things cannot be done. Now an important update has come on this. Telecom companies will now have to submit service quality reports for each state and union territory. Telecom sector regulator TRAI issued instructions in this regard on Friday.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said that for proper analysis of the quality of services being provided by the telecom companies, it is necessary to provide QoS (Quality of Service) reports of the State and Union Territories.

In a statement, TRAI said, this will facilitate the concerned State/Union Territory Governments to help the service providers to improve the QoS, if required.

Therefore, the telecom operators have been directed to report state and union territory wise with respect to QoS parameters on a quarterly basis from March 2023 quarter onwards. Presently the figures are given as per LSA (License Service Area), which will continue in the future as well.

Earlier this week, mobile operators’ body COAI had said that there are several administrative and ground-level difficulties in reporting state-wise call drop data and the report should be prepared at the LSA level itself. (with language input)
