BSNL Targets to Launch 4G Service Next Month

State-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has set a target of launching commercial 4G services in April. For this, the company has started receiving equipment from the consortium led by the country’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Recently Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told that BSNL has installed the first indigenous ‘eNodeB’ hardware for 4G services. It is a wireless base station used for communication between mobile and cellular networks with 4G technology. In a media report, a government official has been quoted as saying, “The central government may get approval from the central government to complete the tender for one lakh 4G sites by the end of March. The company will start the trial for these services from Punjab.” ”

Last month, BSNL’s board approved a deal worth about Rs 24,500 crore for equipment from a TCS-led consortium. Approval is pending from the Group of Ministers for this. During April to December last year, the revenue of the company decreased in 13 circles. The Chief General Managers (CGMs) of these circles have been asked to take immediate steps to deal with the situation.

A media report quoted a letter written by PK Purwar, CMD, BSNL, to the CGMs of the concerned circles as saying, “The MoU signed between the Department of Telecom and BSNL to implement the Cabinet decision on the revival package The ROs have to ensure accountability by taking action against the poor performers.It can be seen that in the last one year, five circles have reached near negative revenue, five circles have turned negative and three circles are severely negative. are done.” The circles with major decline in revenue for BSNL are West Bengal, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh East, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar, Odisha, Bihar and Karnataka.
