Ferozepur The Vigilance Bureau team has caught ASI Harjinder Singh posted in Zira Sadar police station red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000. Vigilance has taken action against the accused ASI on the complaint of Harpreet Singh resident of village Mahianwala.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said that Gurmail Kaur, a resident of village Mahianwala, had filed a complaint against Harpreet Singh. Instead of not taking action, the accused ASI was demanding bribe. The complainant Harpreet Singh also claimed that ASI Harjinder Singh had taken Rs 3000 from him on August 4. Now he was asking for another 20 thousand rupees as bribe.

The spokesperson said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team caught the accused ASI red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of government witnesses. A case has been registered against the accused ASI Harjinder Singh under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act in Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepur Range. The accused will be produced before the magistrate and remanded to the police for questioning.

On the other hand, after completion of the two-day police remand of ASI Harjinder Kaur of Faridkot Women’s Cell in the case of accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000 from Vigilance three days ago, the court sent her to judicial custody for 14 days.
