Agartala : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the allegation of the opposition targeting the BJP-led government over the Hindenburg-Adani case, said that the Supreme Court of the country has taken cognizance of the matter, so it would not be appropriate to comment on it. Yet the BJP has nothing to hide or fear in this matter. In an interview to news agency ANI, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the Hindenburg-Adani case. As a minister, it is not right for me to comment if the Supreme Court is aware of the matter, but the BJP has nothing to hide and nothing to fear.
Allegations of crony capitalism
The Hindenburg-Adani controversy has turned into a major political controversy with the Congress and other opposition parties leveling allegations of favoritism and crony capitalism against the government. He raised the issue while examining the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) during the budget session of Parliament. Even the opposition parties have targeted Prime Minister Modi regarding this issue. Opposition parties have also raised questions on the investment of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and some public sector banks in Adani Group. The government has rejected the allegations of PSUs and regulatory bodies, which have been issuing statements about following norms and acting as per their mandate.
SEBI agreed to set up a committee
On the other hand, in the Hindenburg-Adani case, the Central Government has informed the Supreme Court on Monday that SEBI has agreed to set up a committee to protect the interests of investors after Hindenburg’s report on Adani Group. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud that SEBI is fully prepared to deal with the situation arising out of the recent report of Hindenburg Research. Mehta also told the bench that the government has no objection in appointing a committee to suggest how to ensure protection of investors in future. However, he also said that the committee’s remit is important as it has international ramifications and the government will submit the names in a sealed cover.
Think on Rahul’s scriptwriter speech
Earlier, when asked about Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech in the Lok Sabha during the budget session of Parliament (which was almost entirely related to the Adani Group.) Amit Shah said that it was not the Congress leader or his screenwriters who Decide what speech he wants to deliver. He said that what speech Rahul Gandhi wants to give, it is for him or his speech writers to think.
Cases of corruption were registered during the Congress period itself.
Amit Shah said that Rahul Gandhi is reacting to the allegation of crony capitalism against the BJP. He said there is no question. No one can make such allegations against BJP till date. During the Congress period, all the agencies, be it the CAG or the CBI, had registered cases taking cognizance of corruption. He said that scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore had taken place during that time.

When asked about the allegations of capture of BJP institutions by Congress and other opposition parties, Amit Shah said that they should go to court seeing that the courts are not under the influence of BJP. He said that the court is not in our possession. Feel free to go to court. Why don’t they go to court? Even at that time when the issue of Pegasus was raised, I had said go to the court with evidence, but they only know how to create noise. Those who went to the court, the court took cognizance of the Pegasus case and also gave its decision. An investigation was also done in this matter.
