Bishan Singh Bedi, born on 25 September 1947 in Putlighar, Amritsar, passed away at the age of 77. Former captain Bishan Singh Bedi played his first match for Punjab at the age of 15. Before this, he played cricket at the district level.

He always regretted that after him Madan Lal, Mahendra Singh and Amarnath, no Amritsar youth played for the Indian cricket team for decades.
