The much-awaited H1B visa applications for the financial year 2023-24 in the US will be officially accepted from March 1. The US immigration agency will accept visa applications from skilled foreign workers starting March 1. This visa is most sought after by Indian IT professionals. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to recruit foreign workers in specialized specialties. Technology companies depend on it to recruit thousands of employees every year from countries like India and China.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said it will accept applications for H-1B visas between March 1 and March 17 for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2023. H-1B visas allow holders to work and live in the US for up to six years in specialty fields such as engineering and medicine. After six years, it opens the way to permanent residency or a green card.
USCIS said, “If we receive enough registrations by March 17, we will randomly select registrations and send notification to users’ online accounts.” This notification will be sent to account holders by March 31, according to a statement. The US issues 85,000 H-1B visas each year, of which 20,000 are reserved for workers pursuing advanced degrees from US institutions, while the remaining 65,000 are awarded through a lottery system.
