Punjab CM Mann to Save Electricity: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today announced to change the timing of government offices from 9 am to 5 pm to 7:30 am to 2 pm in the larger public interest.

Announcing this decision, the Chief Minister said that the new schedule will come into effect from May 2 and will remain in force till July 15. He said that in view of the severe heat in the upcoming summer season, this decision was taken with the aim of making it easier for the common people to do their work in the government offices. Bhagwant Mann said that this decision has been taken after discussions with all the concerned parties to ensure the welfare of all.

Giving further details, the Chief Minister said that with this the common man will be able to do his work in the morning without taking leave from his work. He said that this will also provide convenience to government employees as they will be able to participate in social activities after office hours. Similarly, Bhagwant Mann said that with this the employees will be able to spend more time with their children as the children are also dismissed from school at the same time.

The timing of Punjab government offices has been changed from 7.30 am to 2 pm from 2nd May, 2023.

This decision will continue till July 15, 2023

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that this decision will apply to all the offices of the Punjab government. He hoped that this would also help in saving about 300-350 MW of electricity as a major portion of the electricity was being consumed in government offices. Bhagwant Mann said that P.S.P.C.L. According to the statistics of Powercom, the peak load starts after 1 pm in the day.

CM Mann said that the new schedule will also ensure that people get maximum use of sunlight. He said that in many countries people adjust their clocks according to the weather so that they can make maximum use of the sunshine. Bhagwant Mann assured the people that the state government will take more such citizen-centric decisions in the coming days as well.
