Bajaj Auto, one of the country’s largest two-wheeler companies, has launched a new version of the Chetak electric scooter. New features have been given in it. Its range has been increased. The company says that it has also improved the supply chain to increase production. Prices of the new Bajaj Chetak start at Rs 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

The company has not made any changes in the design of this electric scooter. It has been made available in three new colours, Matte Coarse Grey, Matte Caribbean Blue and Satin Black. It gets a large LCD digital console, premium two-toned seat and scooter colored rear view mirrors. The headlamps, indicators and central trim elements get a charcoal black finish, making it look different from the current version. It has an ARAI certified range of 108 kilometers in a single charge. However, the company says that its actual range is around 90 kms. There is no change in its battery size and it is of 2.88 kWh. It is powered by a 4.2 kW PMS motor that produces 20 Nm of peak torque.

The body of the new Chetak electric scooter is metal and a charger has been given in it, which can fully charge the battery in four hours. The company has started booking it and it will be delivered from April. This electric scooter will be sold in 60 cities. The company plans to sell it through more than 100 outlets in 85 cities by the end of March. These include about 40 Chetak Experience Centers. It will be sold alongside the current version of the Chetak electric scooter, which costs around Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

Bajaj Auto said that it has improved the supply chain in collaboration with the vendors. With this, the company will be able to produce more than 10,000 electric scooters every month. This will also reduce the overall cost. company The company had stopped manufacturing the Chetak scooter in 2006. After this, its electric version was launched about four years ago. The company will start selling the Chetak electric scooter in Europe from next year.
