After the poor performance of the team in the World Cup 2023, Babar Azam has left the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team. Babar issued a statement on Wednesday 15 November announcing his retirement from captaincy of the team across all formats. Babar Azam was made the captain of the Pakistan team for the first time in 2019 and in 2021 he became the captain in all three formats.
