Announcement of Indian team for 2022 Women’s World Cup

The Indian squad for the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand has been announced. The BCCI on Thursday announced a 15-member squad. Mithali Raj has been given the captaincy of the team while Harmanpreet Kaur has been made the vice-captain.

Fast bowler Shikha Pandey has not found a place in the team. The Indian team will make its debut in the World Cup with a match against Pakistan. The match will be played on March 6 at Bay-Oval Tauranga. In the 2022 World Cup, India will play its first match against Pakistan on March 6, second match against New Zealand on March 10, third match against West Indies on March 12 and fourth match against England on March 16. The Indian women’s team will take on Australia on March 19 in Auckland. The matches will be played between Bangladesh and South Africa on March 22 and 27. The 2022 Women’s World Cup kicks off on March 4 with a match between hosts New Zealand and the West Indies.

Indian team: Mithali Raj (captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (vice-captain), Smriti Mandhana, Shefali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Sneha Rana, Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastakar, Megha Singh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Tania Bhatia (wk), Rajeshwar Gaikwad, Poonam Yadav.
