Union Water Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is coming to Chandigarh tomorrow. Meanwhile, he will hold a meeting with the Chief Minister of Haryana and Punjab regarding the Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal issue. In this meeting, along with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, senior officials of the Center and the state will also be present. The meeting is scheduled at 4 pm at Hotel Taj Chandigarh. It is believed that an attempt will be made to find a way to resolve this issue between Punjab and Haryana through a meeting.
Haryana government is raising voice for the construction of Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal. The highest court of the country i.e. the Supreme Court has also given its decision in favor of the Haryana government. The Supreme Court has asked the Center to take steps for the construction of the canal. On the other hand, the Haryana government is also continuously saying that the matter of water will be discussed later, the construction of the canal should be done first, that is, Haryana is not yet talking about water from Punjab.
He is constantly demanding steps to be taken for the construction of the canal. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has also asked to take steps for the construction of the canal. Now the ball is in the centre's court in this matter.
