Air India VRS | Air India is firing its employees! New VRS scheme introduced

New Delhi, Air India on Friday offered Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for the personnel of its non-flying operations. This is the second such offer by the Tata group after it acquired the airline in January last year. This offer is for permanent general cadre officers who are 40 years of age or above and have completed a minimum period of five years of continuous service in the airline.

Apart from this, employees of clerical or non-skilled category who have completed minimum five years of continuous service are also eligible. This offer will be open till 30 April.

Sources said around 2,100 employees are eligible for this voluntary retirement offer. Earlier, Air India had brought a similar proposal in June 2022. An official information said, “Application for this can be made from March 17 to April 30, 2023.” Eligible employees applying by March 31, 2023 will get Rs one lakh in addition to the ex-gratia amount. About 1,500 out of 4,200 eligible employees took advantage of the offer when it was first introduced.
