Bureau report : After Chandigarh, 16 August has also been declared as a holiday. All teaching bases will be closed on Wednesday. District Education Officer Dr Ginni Duggal has issued these instructions. There will be a holiday in all government and non-government recognized and private schools coming under the district. Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, who came to join the program on the occasion of Independence Day, had announced a holiday. If any educational institutes are opened, they will be considered as ignoring the orders of the government.
Earlier in the morning, Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit announced a holiday in Chandigarh’s educational institutions during the Independence Day celebrations. Children from different schools participated in the Independence Day programme. Therefore, a holiday has been announced on August 16 to give rest to the children.
