Action of vigilance, engineer-clerk of Amritsar Improvement Trust arrested on charges of asking for bribe

An engineer and a clerk of Amritsar Improvement Trust have been arrested for demanding bribe in exchange of NOC. The accused had taken a bribe of Rs 50,000 on which Vigilance has taken action. A case has been registered against the accused.

Inderjit Singh, a resident of Nawan Kot, Amritsar, had contacted the Patiala Vigilance Bureau and complained that Jagjit Singh, an engineer of the Amritsar Improvement Trust, and Sanjeev Kumar, a sales clerk, were demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from him in exchange for issuing the NOC. The said officer was not giving NOC regarding ownership of a plot situated on Railway Link Road and then demanded bribe from him.

Patiala Vigilance Bureau has started an investigation into the matter. After that, the vigilance of Amritsar laid a trap and in the presence of 2 government witnesses, JE Jagjit Singh and Clerk Sanjeev Kumar were arrested while taking bribe. A case has been registered in this regard at Amritsar Vigilance Bureau Police Station and further investigation is on.
