285 year old lemon found in dead mans cabinet sold for Rs 148 lakh in British auction

This much-hyped auction was conducted by Brettells auction house in Shropshire, England. According to the information given by the auctioneer, this unique lemon was found by a man in a small 19th century cupboard belonging to his uncle, but the interesting thing is that the person came to auction the cupboard. He felt it might be valuable. While the auctioneer was photographing the cupboard, he found a 285-year-old dried lemon in a cupboard drawer, which had turned black. He also auctioned the lemon along with the cupboard.

A special message is also written on this lemon. This lemon peel is inscribed, 'Given by Mr. P. Lou Franchini to Miss E. Baxter, Nov. 4, 1739.' It is believed to have been taken from India to England as a romantic gift.

Auctioneer David Brettel said that he had estimated that the lemon could sell for 4,200-6,300 rupees, but it was auctioned for 1,400 pounds (1.47 lakh rupees), while the cupboard sold for only 32 pounds (about 3,360 rupees). is
