A case was registered against the Patwari on the charge of taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case of corruption against Sunny Sharma, a Mall Patwari posted at Mall Halka Ferozeshah, under the anti-corruption campaign in the state, on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 and demanding another Rs 2,000 through the Paytm app.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that this case against the said accused has been registered on the online complaint filed by Rachpal Singh, a resident of village Saidoke, district Faridkot, at the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line.

He further said that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the said patwari has demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 in exchange for amending the revenue record regarding the fraudulent change of ownership of his brother-in-law's land.

He further alleged that the said patwari had already taken Rs 3000 as bribe from him and asked him to deposit the second installment of Rs 2000 in his Paytm account. The complainant has also submitted the recording of the demand for bribe made by the said Patwari to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.

In this regard, Vigilance Bureau Range Ferozepur investigated the complaint and found the allegations to be true. On the basis of this report, a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Ferozepur Range. He further informed that further investigation of this matter is going on.
