Ministry of Labor ESIC: Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has added 16.27 lakh new members in January 2023. This information has been given in the payroll data released on Wednesday. About 22,800 new establishments have been registered in January under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, which provides social security to its workers, the labor ministry said in a statement. According to the statement, out of the total 16.27 lakh employees added in the month under review, there are 7.52 lakh members up to the age of 25 years. This shows that the youth of the country are getting good employment opportunities. Similarly, in January 2023, the enrollment of women members has been 13.22 lakh. As per the data, a total of 44 transgender employees registered under the ESI scheme in January. According to the statement, the payroll figures are provisional, as the data collection process continues.
16.26 lakh new members
Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) added 16.26 lakh members in November 2022 on a net basis. The Ministry of Labor said that this figure is 16.5 percent higher than the same month a year ago. This indicates that jobs in the organized sector have increased. EPFO’s temporary payroll i.e. the data of people kept on regular salary, released by the ministry on Friday, states that EPFO has added 16.26 lakh members in November 2022 purely.
25.67 more than in October 2022
The Ministry of Labor said in a statement that these figures are 25.67 more than in October 2022. Out of the total 16.26 lakh members added in November, around 8.99 lakh members have joined EPFO for the first time. This shows that the number of new members joining EPFO increased by 1.71 lakh as against 7.28 lakh in October 2022. The maximum of 2.77 lakh new members are in the age-group of 18-21 years. This is followed by 2.32 lakh members in the age-group of 22-25 years. The age group of 18-25 years accounted for 56.60 percent of the total new members in the month under review. This shows that for the first time job seekers are joining the organized sector workforce of the country in a big way. According to the data, around 11.21 lakh members have rejoined the EPFO.
