Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Mir Foundation provided relief to the recently affected families in Punjab and distributed the necessary relief kits for their rehabilitation.
Punjab is struggling with the worst flood disaster in decades. After heavy rains in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, this flood has occurred due to rising water level in Sutlej, Vyas and Ravi rivers as well as small rivers.
The Foundation said in a statement that the initiative, started in association with local non-governmental organizations, will help 1,500 families in Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka and Ferozepur districts. Relief kits include medicines, hygiene materials, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin, folding beds and other essential commodities.
The purpose of this campaign is to meet the immediate health, safety and shelter needs of flood affected families and help them to resume their lives with respect.
Last week, Shah Rukh expressed support for the people of Punjab in a post on the social media forum ‘X’. The actor (59 years old) wrote in the post, I have condolences to the people affected by this devastating flood in Punjab. My prayers and support are with people. The spirit of Punjab will never break, God should maintain blessings on everyone. A philanthropic initiative established by Shah Rukh Khan, the Mir Foundation has already supported disaster relief efforts and social campaigns in various parts of the country.
