46 lakh gold seized from passenger at Amritsar airport

About 46 lakhs worth of gold has been seized by the officials of the customs department at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. This gold has been recovered from the passenger on the flight from Sharjah.

According to information, officials of the customs department have recovered two gold chains from a passenger at the Amritsar airport. The passenger had come from Sharjah by Indigo flight 6E1428. On searching him, two chains of 24 carat gold were recovered, the total weight of which is 750 grams.

The market value of the recovered gold is around Rs 46 lakh. It was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962 and further investigation is on. The authorities have not yet released the name and identity of the passenger.
