34-year-old Gabriel Atal became the youngest Prime Minister of France

French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday appointed 34-year-old education minister Gabriel Atal as his new prime minister. Gabriel Atal is counted among Macron's close associates. Gabriel Atal emerged as the government spokesperson during the Covid pandemic, after which he was made Education Minister. Apart from being the youngest Prime Minister, Gabriel Atal will also be the first openly gay Prime Minister.

Gabriel will now replace former Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne. One of the country's most popular politicians in recent opinion polls, Atal has made a name for himself as an intelligent minister who works seamlessly on radio shows and in Parliament. Macron has also worked to consolidate his political ground by appointing Grabiel as Prime Minister.

Elizabeth Bourne resigned after recent political tensions over controversial immigration legislation and other steps to increase the government's powers to deport some foreign nationals. This law has the support of President Macron. Bourne was appointed Prime Minister in May 2022, following Macron's second term in power. She was the second female Prime Minister of France.

With the appointment of Gabriel Atal as Prime Minister, it is being said that the French President wants to breathe new life into his second mandate before the European Parliament elections. Macron can now join hands with Atal to breathe new life into the government. After losing an absolute majority in 2022, Macron was looking for a leader who would strengthen his party while maintaining better ties with the government.

According to the report, French Member of Parliament Patrick Wignall, who announced the name of Gabriel Atal, has said that Gabriel Atal is somewhat like the Macron of 2017. Wignall, who is the leader of Macron's party, and Atal met about 10 years ago. He said that Atal is clear and has rights.
