Zubeen Garg Funeral | Millions of people gathered to give final farewell to Zubin Garg, Assam Nishabd

Thousands of fans gathered at Sarusjai Stadium in Guwahati on Monday to pay their final tribute to Zubin Garg. The bereaved people stood in the queue overnight to give a final farewell to the 52 -year -old singer and waited for hours. His body was kept in a glass coffin covered with traditional Assamese Gamosa. Many people offered flowers and gamososa, while some recorded their last farewell moments in mobile phones. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma inspected the place where singer Zubin will be cremated on Tuesday. Sharma visited the place in Kamarkuchi NC village of Sonapur area near Guwahati on Sunday night.

He said in a post on ‘X’, “Shortly before inspecting the place where Zubin will be buried. My officials will be engaged in preparing a place for his funeral overnight and tomorrow.” He said that all necessary works will be done for the funeral. The decision to cremate Garg in Kamarkuchi was taken in a cabinet meeting on Sunday evening.

The people who arrived for the final farewell included many prominent personalities including singer Papon, and many people got emotional while paying homage to their favorite ‘Zubin Da’ and their tears were spilled. Fans also sang the popular songs of ‘Zubin Da’ outside the venue and were not ready to leave even after paying tribute. Many people fell ill due to scorching sun, which was treated by the medical team on the spot.

Jubin’s body will be kept for the last darshan of common people at Sarusjai Stadium in Guwahati throughout the day on Monday. After this, the last rites will be performed on Tuesday at Kamarkuchi, the outskirts of Guwahati. The body of the singer was brought from Singapore to Guwahati on Sunday morning. He died in Singapore on Friday while floating in the sea. His body was first taken to his residence in Kahilipada, and during this time thousands of people stood in queue on the 25 km long route from the airport to his house.

From Saturday evening itself, the crowd started gathering in Sarusjai’s ‘Arjun Bhogeshwar Barua Sports Complex’ and by Sunday the number reached millions. Amid scorching sun and heavy rains, people paid tribute to their favorite star. Garg’s wife Garima thanked the people for his “infinite affection and prayers”.
