Yamuna water level in Delhi reached above the warning mark

The water level of Yamuna river in Delhi crossed the 204.50 meter warning level on Thursday to reach 204.88 meters on the old railway bridge. The officers provided this information.

According to officials, all the concerned agencies have been alerted to take precautionary measures to deal with the potential flood -like situation. Officials said that the water level of Yamuna on the old railway bridge at eight in the morning was 204.88 meters.

The warning mark for the city is 204.5 meters, while the danger mark is 205.3 meters and the withdrawal begins at 206 meters. The old railway bridge serves as a major observation point to monitor the river flow and potential floods.

“The main reason for the increase in the water level is to release a large amount of water every hour from the Hathinikund barrage,” said an official at the central flood room. For the first time in this monsoon, more than 50,000 cusecs of water was released from Hathinikund barrage in Haryana and reached the highest level of 61,000 cusecs at around 6 am.

“Since then, 50,000 cusecs of water has been released every hour from Hathinikund barrage.” The water released from the barrage usually takes 48 to 50 hours to reach Delhi, “the official said.
