Popular Assamese singer Zubine Garg died in the scuba diving accident in Singapore at the age of 52. The Zubine was known for his contribution to the Assamese music industry. Assam’s Health and Family Welfare and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal expressed condolences on the death of Zubine Garg. He shared an emotional message on X (East Twitter). His tweet reads, “The untimely demise of our beloved Zubine Garg was deeply saddened. Assam has lost not only a voice, but also a beating. Zubin da was far from a singer, he was the pride of Assam and the nation, whose songs brought our culture, our feelings and our feelings to every corner of the world.”

The tweet further wrote, “In his music, generations got pleasure, consolation and identity. His death has created a void that can never be filled. Assam has lost its favorite son, and India has lost one of his best cultural symbols. My heartfelt sensation towards his family, friends and untouched fans. God continued to give peace and his shape.”
Former Rajya Sabha MP Ripu Bora paid the last tribute to the singer on X. He wrote, “The untimely demise of our cultural symbol Zubeen Garg caused deep shock and sadness. His voice, music and indomitable spirit inspired Assam and further generations. My heartfelt condolences to his family, fans and loved ones.” In mid -1995, Garg moved to Mumbai to work in the Bollywood music industry where he launched his first Indipop single album Chandni night. Later, he recorded some Hindi albums and remix songs such as Chanda (1996), tribute volume: 1,2,3 (1996–97), Jalwa (1998), Yuhi Kabhi (1998), Magic (1999), Sparsh (2000) etc.

He got the opportunity to sing for various films like Gaddar (1995), Dil Se (1998), Doli Decoration Ke Rakha (1998), Fiza (2000), Kanta (2002). In 2003, he sang the film Mud-The Issue Se “Sapna Sare” and “Khwabon Ki”, the film Silenty to “Mango Agar Dil to Khuda”, Aiya Mera Dost Se “Holi Re” from the film Mumbai and “Joe Pyaar Tumne” from the film Jaling: The Trap: The Trap. He got the biggest break in Bollywood from the film Gangster where he sang the song “or Ali”.[43] The song gave him the best playback singer Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) in 2006.
