Australia’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Alyssa Healy was not included in any team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction on Thursday. Healy was the first player to bid in the WPL 2026 auction. Healy has been struggling with fitness problems since last year’s T20 World Cup. She also struggled to find her rhythm in the current Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season. Earlier, he was bought by UP Warriors for Rs 70 lakh in the WPL 2023 auction.

New Zealand star Amelia Kerr was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3 crore. Kerr was part of the Mumbai team that won two championships in the WPL. During the WPL 2026 auction, there was a tough fight between UP Warriors and Mumbai to buy the New Zealand star player; Eventually, Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 3 crore. Earlier, Kerr was contracted for Rs 1 crore in WPL 2023.
South African captain Laura Wolvaardt was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 1.10 crore. Wolvaardt had a brilliant performance with the bat in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. His base price in this year’s auction was Rs 30 lakh. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bid for him, but Delhi Capitals also joined in and his price went up to Rs 85 lakh in no time. Delhi Capitals kept the pressure on Royal Challengers Bangalore by bidding hard and eventually acquired him for Rs 1.1 crore. This is a good sign for Delhi, as they can use Laura as the captain and she can open the innings along with Shafali Verma in the WPL 2026 season.

It is noteworthy that the Capitals had released Australian legend Meg Lanning before the WPL 2026 auction and now Wolvaardt is replacing her. South African opening batsman Tazmin Britts and Indian player S Meghna also remained unsold in the WPL 2026 auction. A total of 277 cricketers will go under the hammer in the WPL 2026 auction. Out of these 277 players, 194 are Indian and 83 are foreign cricketers. Of the 194 Indian players, 52 are capped players, while 66 of the 83 foreign players are capped.
