The US Senate confirmed Matt Whitekar as an US ambassador to President Donald Trump’s NATO late on Tuesday night. They do not have experiences related to foreign policy or national security. He was approved by a 52-45 vote in the Senate.

Whitekar was the Chief of Staff of Attorney General Jeff Sessions during Trump’s first term. The sessions had separated themselves by investigating the 2016 election Russian intervention.

After this, Whitekar was made acting attorney. After Trump’s return, he was considered to give him a big responsibility in the Department of Justice. However, he has now been made ambassador to NATO.
